Life Admin Day
Life admin day is a recurring 90-minute session that keeps renewals, records, and paperwork from becoming expensive emergencies—and how to run yours.
Renting is the version of running a home where almost everything has to be asked for — in writing, from somebody else, and then proved again months later when the deposit is the thing being argued about. These are the messages and records that make that ask land.
A repair mentioned at the door in March is hard to prove in June. A dated email isn't. That single difference shapes much of what follows — whether a repair gets booked, whether you can answer a deduction with something more than your recollection, and whether "I told you about this months ago" is a memory or a document.
None of it requires being difficult. The messages that work are calm, specific, and generous about the person while being immovable about the facts: describe the thing, not the person. "The faucet has leaked since May 30 and the cabinet base is now soft" is a fact somebody has to deal with. "Nobody in your office ever does anything" is an opinion they can dismiss.
Start free, no signup: the repair request and contractor quote-request templates, each shown as a fill-in template and written out in full — two of the 37 messages in the full swipe bank.
Working through something now? Read how to ask a landlord for a repair in writing, or what a demand letter is and when one is the right last step. Wondering whether to pay somebody to write it? Compare swipe templates vs hiring help.
Templates and general guidance, not legal advice. Deposit deadlines, what a landlord may deduct, and what a small-claims court will hear are set by state and sometimes local law and vary sharply. To find the agency that covers your state, start at USAGov's guide to filing a complaint against a landlord; for anything where real money or your housing is at stake, talk to a local attorney, a tenants' service, or a legal-aid organization near you.

Where we fit
Most tools force a choice between a blank spreadsheet you build from scratch and a monthly app that's overkill. Ardent Workshop is the rung in between — structure you own.
Free, but you build and maintain every formula, tab and layout yourself.
Owned, structured, connected workbooks — a one-time price, yours to keep.
Powerful, but overkill, rented and locked-in — built for someone bigger than you.
