Templates for Readers & Book Clubs.

A curated set of 5 templates for readers — in Excel, Google Sheets and print-ready PDF. One runs the club's discussion and schedule. The rest keep your own to-be-read pile, finished books and comics in one place.

Reading is two different jobs

There is what you read: the pile you mean to get to, the book you just finished, whether you'd rate it the way the crowd did. And there is the club, which is a different job entirely — whose turn it is to pick, how much of the book to read before Thursday, and what to do with the half of the room that hasn't finished. Nothing here tries to be both. The trackers below are for the first job; the host kit is built for the second.

Want to try the club side before you buy anything? The Ten Questions for Any Book card sheet is free, ungated, and ready to cut out for Thursday's meeting. Running your own reading challenge instead? Read reading challenge prompt ideas for a big list to steal from and how to run one for a season or a year.

Run the club

1 template

A print-and-run kit for the host's side of the job: how much to read before the next meeting, whose turn it is to pick, and questions split spoiler-safe and finishers-only for the half of the room that didn't finish.

A notebook or a group chat works for a while, until the year ends and nobody can find who picked what. A subscription reading or club app remembers reliably — for as long as you keep paying it, and it decides what you see in the meantime. These sit in the middle: files and printables you buy once, keep on your own drive or in a binder, and reprint for as many meetings or reading years as you want.

Where we fit

Most tools force a choice between a blank spreadsheet you build from scratch and a monthly app that's overkill. Ardent Workshop is the rung in between — structure you own.

  1. Blank spreadsheet

Free, but you build and maintain every formula, tab and layout yourself.

    • Free
    • Infinite setup
    • No structure
  2. You are here

    Ardent Workshop

Owned, structured, connected workbooks — a one-time price, yours to keep.

  3. Generic SaaS app

Powerful, but overkill, rented and locked-in — built for someone bigger than you.

    • Monthly rent
