Free tool · for caregivers & anyone logging vitals at home
Free Vital Signs Log Starter
When someone is under the weather, or a clinician asks you to keep an eye on things at home, the readings pile up on scraps of paper and the one question that matters (was any of it out of range?) goes unanswered. This free vital signs log is one spreadsheet tab for one person: type each reading's blood pressure, pulse, respiration, oxygen saturation and temperature, and the row flags each of them but oxygen saturation against a general adult example range, while a strip above the log keeps the lowest, highest and average of each vital. It opens on a fictional worked example (29 readings from Dad, over a chest cold) so you can see it working before you type your own.

What it does
- Logs one row per reading: date, time, context, systolic, diastolic, pulse, respiration, SpO2, temperature in °F, and a note.
- Flags pulse, respiration and temperature High, Low or OK, and blood pressure High or OK, the moment you type, and spells out what is off on each row (for example "Resp. high + Temp. high").
- Checks against general adult example ranges printed on the sheet with their sources (AHA/ACC 2025, the American Heart Association and Johns Hopkins). They are examples, not anyone's targets: your clinician's numbers are the ones that count.
- Logs SpO2 without flagging it, because no general cut-off is safe to seed, and explains why a pulse oximeter reading can be inaccurate (FDA).
- Keeps the count, lowest, highest and average of each vital, plus how many readings were flagged, over the whole log.
- Opens pre-filled with 29 example readings from a fictional person, with 200 rows ready in all. Opens in Excel and LibreOffice, or import it into Google Sheets: no macros, no signup, and the file saves nothing anywhere but your own copy.

Tracking more than one person, or heading to an appointment?
This starter checks one person against one general example range. The full Vital Signs Tracker keeps up to six people, each checked against the low and high numbers their own clinician set, with separate call-my-clinician thresholds from their care plan. It flags a blood pressure reading that skipped the pre-reading checks, turns a 7-day home blood pressure week into the morning and evening average to bring to an appointment, prints a Visit Summary for any date range, and compares each person's last 7 days with their own baseline. One 8-tab workbook for Excel and Google Sheets, with a 13-page guide, a printable vitals log and a care plan card.
A one-time purchase you keep on your own computer or in your own Google Drive: no app, no subscription, no device to pair.
Not advice: this is a record-keeping aid, not medical advice or a diagnosis. The ranges are general adult examples, not anyone's targets; follow the plan your clinician gives you, and in an emergency call 911. The example person and readings are fictional. Free to use and share as-is; please don't resell it.
