Lawn & Snow Job Pricing Calculator

This free calculator prices one lawn visit by what it really costs you, the drive included, and checks one snow account's push price against your cost. Pricing by square footage alone can leave out the minutes your crew spends driving to a yard, what the mower and the truck cost to run for that time, and the share of insurance, phone and rent every working hour has to carry. Enter your hourly pay, helper wage and overhead once, then the yard: its lot size or timed crew-minutes, the service, the crew, the drive, and your mower and truck cost per hour. It breaks the visit into eight cost lines, then shows the price that keeps your target margin, the margin your current price earns, and a verdict. It opens on a worked example for an invented property so you can see it filled in before you type over it.

What it does

  • Takes your pay per hour, your helper's wage and payroll costs, your yearly overhead and the crew-hours you expect to work, and turns them into a loaded helper rate and an overhead cost per crew-hour.
  • Works out how long one property takes from its lot size and service type (or the total crew-minutes you have timed it at), split across your crew size. The lot-size minutes are placeholders, so time a few of your own yards and type over them.
  • Breaks one visit into eight cost lines: your time and your helper's time on site and on the drive, the mowing equipment, the truck for the drive, overhead, and materials.
  • Totals the true cost per visit, the price that hits your target margin, the profit and margin at the price you charge now, and a Priced right, Under target or Losing money verdict.
  • Checks one snow account: what a push costs you in labor, equipment, the drive, overhead and salt, the profit at your per-push price, the push price your target margin needs, and a verdict: hits your margin, covers cost but under target, or at or below cost.
  • Ships pre-filled with one property and one snow account from the paid workbook's own fictional sample, so nothing opens blank. Every name and figure in it is invented.
  • Opens in Excel, Google Sheets and LibreOffice: no macros, no signup, and nothing saved anywhere but your own copy.

When one yard is not the whole operation

This calculator prices one yard and one snow account. The full workbook prices up to 40 properties at once in your real stop order: each stop carries its share of the drive from the one before, and every route day is rolled up into drive share, dollars per route hour and day profit, then ranked. It works out each machine's true cost per hour from its purchase price, resale value, upkeep and fuel; tests every snow account per push against a seasonal contract across a light, an average and a heavy winter, with the push count where the two prices break even, the count where the seasonal price stops covering cost, and a verdict; compares a seasonal monthly mowing contract with per-visit billing after skipped mows; logs invoices, payments and expenses; and puts mowing and plowing into one year, month by month, after all overhead and equipment. Ten connected tabs, a 17-page Start Here guide, 3 printable field sheets, and a one-click Google Sheets copy.

A file you buy once: no app account and no subscription. Keep it in Excel or make your own Google Sheets copy.
