Free Vegetable Garden Planting Log
This free vegetable garden planting log is a spreadsheet that records what you planted, where and when, and dates the expected first harvest for each crop, all on one tab. Type your last spring frost date once, then add a row for each crop as it goes in — the bed, the variety, transplant or direct sow, and the date — and it shows how many weeks after your frost date you planted, looks up the typical days to harvest from a short built-in crop list, and keeps a status word current: not planted yet, growing, or ready to pick. It opens pre-filled with a worked spring garden, so the method is legible before you change a thing. It's a taste of the full Vegetable Garden Planner and Harvest Log.

What it does
- Keeps one row per planting — crop, bed, variety, transplant or direct sow, planting date and notes — so next spring you know what went where.
- Dates the expected first harvest from the planting date and the crop's typical days to harvest, read from a built-in list of common vegetables and herbs.
- Shows how many weeks after your last spring frost each crop went in, a number to compare with how each crop did when you plan next year's planting dates.
- Keeps a status word current for every row — Not planted yet, Growing, or Ready to pick — in words, not just color.
- Opens pre-filled with a worked spring garden — type over it with your own plantings. No email, no signup, no account.

Want the whole season planned from your frost dates?
This free log records what went in. The full Vegetable Garden Planner and Harvest Log plans it before it does: set your two frost dates once and it dates every indoor start, transplant and direct sowing for a 50-crop guide, expands each succession planting into its rounds and flags any round that cannot mature before your first fall frost, and gives you the next 14 days of tasks. Then it joins your harvest log to your beds — pounds per square foot, and harvest value against what you spent on seed and supplies, for every bed and every crop — checks your seed packets for age and writes the seed order your plan needs, and flags a crop family going back into the same bed too soon. One connected workbook for Excel, Google Sheets or LibreOffice, plus a start-here guide, a printable crop reference and print-and-fill garden sheets.
A one-time purchase you keep, rather than a garden app with the harvest log behind a higher tier.
A personal garden record, not horticultural advice. The example garden, beds, varieties and dates are made up, and the days to harvest are typical figures — your variety, soil and weather will differ, so check your seed packet. Free to use; please don't resell or redistribute.
