Free Homeschool Attendance & Hours Log
A homeschool year is logged one day at a time, and the question that comes up at the end of it (how many days did we actually do, and how many hours of each subject?) is the one a calendar of checkmarks cannot answer. This free homeschool attendance and hours log is one spreadsheet tab for one learner: type a code for each school day and the days count themselves against your target, with half days, sick days and breaks weighted the way you set them; log hours by subject and a table adds each subject's hours and its share of the total. It opens on a fictional worked example (a first-year high schooler through mid-December: 80.5 of 180 target days and 401.5 of 900 target hours) so you can see it working before you log a day of your own. It states no state's homeschool rules: the targets are the ones your own state or program asks for.

What it does
- Logs one row per school day: the date and weekday fill themselves in from your first and last school day, and you type a code (school day, half day, field trip, co-op or outside class, testing day, sick day, break).
- Counts days the way you set them up: the day codes table is editable, so a half day can count as 0.5 and a sick day or a break as 0, and the log's dropdown and its count both follow the table.
- Keeps days counted, days still to go and the share of your target, plus hours logged, hours still to go, sick days and break days, all updating as you type.
- Logs hours by date, subject and what was done, and adds them up per subject area with each subject's share of all hours and its number of entries.
- Opens pre-filled with a fictional learner's fall term: 90 weekdays coded and 102 hours entries, with 262 day rows (a full calendar year of weekdays) and 400 hours rows. Opens in Excel and LibreOffice, or upload it to Google Drive and open it with Google Sheets: no macros, no signup.
